The article reflects on the presence and scope of the discourses of Spanish nationalism in the mass culture through the study of Spanish cinema produced during the years of the Second Republic. From a theoretical perspective based on the latest theoretical developments on nationalism, and particularly those concerning the role of culture, the article seeks to place the cinema in the heart of the study of Spanish nation-building process in the first decades of the twentieth century. Este estudio aborda la historia del diario valenciano Fragua Social, órgano de expresión del Comité Regional de Levante y del Comité Nacional de la CNT durante la guerra civil española de 1936 a 1939. Pretende completar y renovar los conocimientos sobre la CNT valenciana desde un enfoque cultural, y determinar su relación con la organización nacional y con las otras fuerzas sindicales y políticas durante los tres años que duró la guerra.
